DATA: COMPILED BY BLOOMBERG

Some companies switch the industry they say they operate in, which can have a big impact on the boss’s pay. In 2011 it switched back to considering only peer banks — just in time to catch a jump in bank industry CEO pay.

+70% change in Waddell’s pay since 2008, an increase of $5.9m.
