The author of the 2011 novel Swamplandia!, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, returns with an irresistible collection of supernatural-themed short stories, including one about thirsty vampires without access to blood and another about imprisoned sweatshop workers who escape by morphing into silkworms.

3 Beyoncé: Life Is But a Dream

Feb. 16, 9 p.m., HBO

Beyoncé has directed her own autobiographical documentary, which casts the entertainer in a vulnerable light. “How do I stay current?” she wonders. According to reports, she opens up about details, including a miscarriage, of her tightly guarded life with husband Jay-Z.
