Diners can get a bonus

Free glass of wine for using EFTPOS card

Want to score a free glass of wine with your next meal? You may be able to if you use your debit EFTPOS card to pay for it.

Here’s how it works:

• You have to dine at a participating restaurant (a number of Sydney and Melbourne restaurants are taking part);

• Text EFTPOS to the number located at the restaurant;

• Show your code and EFTPOS card to the staff;

• Receive a free glass of Penfolds Rawson’s Retreat Chardonnay or Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Shiraz;

• Pay for your meal using EFTPOS by pressing CHQ or SAV.

The promotion is set to run until September 30, 2013. See www.eftposaustralia.com.au/campaigns/everyday/wine.

Check your bank balance

St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne customers with an Android smartphone can see their real-time account balances without having to log in to mobile banking. The new widget allows the balance to appear on your home screen. You can choose from a variety of gauge options such as fuel gauge, speedometer, thermometer, amp meter and battery. You can view the balances of up to two accounts by downloading a separate widget for each account.

You can now also apply for a personal loan via the three banks’ mobile banking app (for both iPhone’s and Androids). You’ll receive an answer in 60 seconds but if you are successful you will have to finalise the documentation at a branch.

Valuable application

A new app, My evault, is designed so you can keep a record of your valuables, which will make it easier if you need to make an insurance claim.

You can include key information on each item, such as photos, receipts, serial numbers, warranty certificates, insurance policy information and related tax expense claims. Currently only available through the iTunes App Store, it costs $6.49.
